Bradley Tusk is a venture capitalist, political strategist, philanthropist and writer. He is the author of The Fixer and his newest book is entitled Obvious In Hindsight. Previously, Bradley served as campaign manager for Mike Bloomberg’s 2009 mayoral race, as Deputy Governor of Illinois, overseeing the state’s budget, operations, legislation, policy and communications, as communications director for US Senator Chuck Schumer, and as Uber’s first political advisor. On this episode we talk about Bradley’s recent blog post detailing 50 reflections at age 50. We also talk about how he came to become Uber’s first political advisor and how that led him to create a venture firm that is now described as the world’s first venture capital fund that invests solely in early stage startups in highly regulated industries. We finish the show discussing his philanthropic efforts and what he has learned opening a bookstore in Manhattan.
